BROCK STEARN Creative Technology Leader
Portrait of Brock Stearn

About

Making new technology practical has become the through-line of my career.

I started in visual effects and animation, close to the craft of making images. Over time, the problems grew larger: products, visualization systems, teams, workflows, and new entertainment platforms.

The common thread is simple: when technology moves faster than the playbook around it, I help make the unfamiliar usable, repeatable, and dependable.

How I work

Close enough to the craft to understand the details. Far enough out to see the system.

01

Understand the real problem

Start with people, business needs, creative intent, and constraints—not the novelty of the technology.

02

Make it tangible

Prototype early so teams can see the same problem, test assumptions, and make better decisions.

03

Build the operating model

Turn what works into tools, workflows, roles, review systems, and shared language.

04

Leave capability behind

The best outcome is a team that can keep succeeding without constant oversight.

Career arc

The medium changed. The pattern stayed.

My career has moved from feature-film VFX and commercial CG into immersive media, product development, post visualization, and architectural-scale entertainment. Each step expanded the scale of the problem—from making the image, to designing the system that helps many people make better work.

Applied R&D

A small space for exploring what may matter next.

I keep independent R&D deliberately selective. The goal is not a constant stream of experiments; it is to investigate a few emerging technologies deeply enough to understand where they might become useful.

What I leave behind

The most valuable outcome is not a finished project. It is an organization that can do something confidently that it could not do before.
